Each year, Usa Archery hosts five outdoor shoots that each archer needs to attend to qualify to make the World Cup team for the following year to represent the USA. Those five shoots are as follows:
Arizona Cup - https://arizonacup.net
Gator Cup - https//www.gatorcup.com
SoCal Showdown - https:/www.socalshowdown.org
Buckeye Classic - https:/www.buckeyeclassic.org
USA Nationals - https:/www.usarchery.org/events/national-tournaments/outdoor-nationals
After the fifth shoot – the national ranking system or NRS points are calculated. NRS points are calculated as follows:
Qualification round placement is 40%
Elimination placement is 40%
Arrow average of elimination matches is 20%
Example:
An archer places 5th in the qualification round and 3rd in the elimination round and has the highest arrow average, would have the following:
Elimination scores examples: 147 + 149 + 148 = 444
444 divided by 3 matches which is a total of 45 arrows so 444 divided by 45 = 9.866
That 9.866 number would be ranked with the other archers Average arrow score and receive points for that - the person with the highest arrow average would be #1
The person finished 5th in qualifications so 5 x .4 = 2 (qualifications)
The person finished 3rd in eliminations so 3 x .4 = 1.2 (eliminations)
The person finished 1st for arrow average so 1 x .2 = .2 (arrow average)
2 + 1.2 + .2 = 3.4 for a final NRS ranking
There are 5 total shoots to receive NRS rankings. An archer must take 4 scores and they must shoot USA Outdoor Nationals but do not need to take that score if their other four scores are better. At the conclusion of the season, the 4 archers with the lowest NRS ranking will be announced for the World Cup Team for the following year.
